This weekend was the best weekend i have had so far on this trip it was so action packed and fun filled, just thinking about the weekend gets me tired. We arrived in Interlaken of Friday morning at 4,30. We all got to sleep for about 3 hours then we were up for the day. Me, Alex, Jamie and Jessica all went together for this trip so it would be a fun roommate bonding weekend. Jamie paraglided friday morning, Jessica went skiing and me and Alex went CANYON JUMPING!!! We had our jump at 1 so to kill some time before, me and Alex walked around town and looked at a few churches and some old buildings, we found a cute river and took a million pictures.
Our driver to the jump was nuts. He was swerving all over the place. We had to go to Grindelwald which was about a half hour away to jump. We finally arrived and had to walk up the whole mountain to get to the top which didn’t help the fact that i was already nervous. Once we got to the top we signed our lives away, got in a harness and waited to jump. The wait was fine i was confident i would have no problem, i mean i have jumped out of a plane before. This was so different. I have never been so afraid to do something before. I think when i looked down and saw the rocks i just freaked out. I almost backed out but Neil, the guy in charge helped me through it. He gave me a push.. Literally. a Stranger poured alcohol in my mouth and pushed me off a cliff. IT WAS AWESOME! but i never want to do it again. It is officially crossed off my bucket list and im happy about that. It was very beautiful but i really felt like i was going to die.
After we got home we got to go to a chocolatier in town and see how some real swiss chocolate is made, and got to taste a lot as well. We had dinner and i tried some swiss food, not the best i might add.
Saturday we had a day trip to Bern. It is the capital of Switzerland. It was very cold so we only stayed for a few hours. The Word Bern means Bear and in the center of town there is a bear pit which has 4 bears. When we got there we were told they were hibernating but by the end of the trip we got to see one of the bears. Bern is a very pretty, old school german looking town from the middle ages. It was colorful housing and pretty buildings. Also it has the apartment that Albert Einstein lived in when he came up with the theory for relativity and we got to go inside. It was a nice change of pace. After we got home we had some dinner and walked around town again. It was a nice day.
Sunday was check out, so we packed up early and went on a search for the big lake so we could take cool pictures and get what i guess was not yet a good enough workout for the weekend. We went the wrong way and ended up walking through a town and over a bridge but it was worth it. It was so pretty and we had a great view the whole time. The lake was amazing. I wrote a letter to myself about all the things i want to leave behind me on the adventure and all the things i wanted to learn and i threw it into the lake. Kind of like washing away the old me and becoming a new me.
We got back to Florence around midnight and i was so happy. I was starting to miss the rainy days. I felt like i was trapped in a snow globe for a few days. but it was so worth it!
