This past trip so far is my favorite. I think i might be saying that after ever trip i do though. This one was more relaxing so i think it was a nice change from everything else. We started off the day going to Sienna. It was so cool i learned so much about the city that i never knew. Sienna has the oldest bank in the world that is still up and running. It was so pretty and you could really tell the town is from the middle ages. Also in Sienna two times every year there is a massive horse race that each district participates in. The horses are randomly given to the districts by a drawing and then they race around the town square basically. Its such a small place and you would never expect it but the whole town comes out and watches and the winner wins a banner and honnor. Its so cool. We spent about an hour here getting a tour of the city and exploring a little on our own then we left for lunch. We went to a little farm in the middle of the Chianti region, that produces all of its own food and wine. They own 500 acres of land and all the food we ate was organic and fresh. It was the best food i have had so far! They had an amazing view of San Gimignano so we took a lot of pictures out on the terrace and then left for San Gimignano.

A Little history lesson: In the middle ages all of the city states were surronded by walls to protect them and they had large towers with windows high off the ground so no one could get in and then they would be able to see if there was an attack comming.

San Gimignano is still surrounded by walls and has 10 out of the original 17 towers still standing. Very cool!! Then we left for Pisa. In pisa all there is to see is the bapistry, the church and the tower so we were only there for an hour. But it was definately worth it. You can’t come to italy and not see the Leaning Tower of Pisa! There was a protest in town and there were police everywhere so we ended up leaving a little early before anything got to crazy. Not quite sure why but it was intense. We were in Pisa as the sun was setting so it was pretty amazing to see the light slowly climb the tower until it was dark.

This trip was amazing and i’m so happy we got to see all this in one day! There is a picture from each place. Can’t wait for next weekend! Switzerland here we come!

Ciao for now! :]
